TV Review: Rapunzel’s Tangled Adventure (Season 3)

This isn’t a trailer, but here! Enjoy this super catchy song from the beginning of season 3. πŸ™‚

Genre: Animation, Action, Adventure

Rating: TV-Y7

Episodes: 17

Summary: Rapunzel and co. return to Corona to address concerns with Varian – meanwhile, Cassandra forges a new path for herself.

Plot: 4/5 Iloved the gradual build up to the overarching climax. With season 3, the audience is shown how things were still connected to season 1. I also feel like season 3 flowed better in terms of overarching plot, but there were still lovable episodic stories too. In addition, there were lots of good stories about friendship and forgiveness. πŸ™‚

Characters: 4/5 I loved the development of characters (VARIAN FTW! Also CASSANDRA) Cassandra’s journey of finding herself separately from Rapunzel, and then the juxtaposition of Cassandra’s and Varian’s villain journeys, were all super interesting! Eugene’s own journey of learning how to be a son was also great! (loved it).

Actors: 4/5 Mandy Moore | Zachary Levi | Eden Espinosa | James Monroe Iglehart | Paul F. Tompkins | Jeffrey Ross | Clancy Brown | M.C. Gainey | Jeremy Jordan | Julie Bowen

Animation: 5/5 I already like the style of animation that they used for this series, but somehow it seemed better during this last season!

Music 5/5 I am OBSESSED with “Nothing Left to Lose” !!!!! Also, near the end of the series when all the conflicts were being resolved, the resurgence of character themes in the instrumental background were so beautifully timed and placed. (aka Varian’s “Let Me Make You Proud” playing behind a scene of him and his father during this one specific scene…so beautiful I CRY)

My Score: 4/5 I highly recommend this series! Even if you’ve never seen the movie (which I don’t know how one could go without ever having seen “Tangled” but NOW is the time to go watch it!), the series holds its own with a fleshed out overarching plot and great collection of diverse characters. It’s still definitely a kid’s show, but it was an enjoyable musical adventure. πŸ™‚
